Time Well Spent: NounsWatch Brings ⌐◨-◨ to Your Wrist

A daily wearable that turns Nounish design into a functional fashion statement.

The Details

The NounsWatch started as a simple yet striking idea: what if the Noggles could tell time? That idea became a precision timepiece designed by Rafael Miranda, founder of Dwiss, and supported by the Nouns community through Proposal 480.

Built to be worn every day, the NounsWatch combines watch making with meme culture, turning the ⌐◨-◨ symbol into something people can actually wear. It’s a fresh new interface for the Nouns brand and a case study in how physical products can help tell the Nouns story.

From a design standpoint, the watch is a piece of art. The mirrored black dial uses a “mysterious hours” half-day display system. Each passing hour slowly forms the Noggles symbol from two individual hands. In keeping with Nouns values, the design is freely available under CC0, making it one of the first open-source watch designs shared this way.

A little over a year later, the team — led by Fabio Seva and Rafael Miranda — delivered on their vision. Here’s what they pulled off:

  • Produced 600 First Edition watches in black, red, white, and purple
Generated over 1 million ad impressions and 10,000 site sessions
  • Sold 551+ watches via Shopify, Kickstarter, Indiegogo, and in-person events
  • Secured media coverage and IRL traction with collectors and watch fans outside of Web3
  • Released the 3D files for the Nouns Watch as Open Source

At NFC Lisbon, they won a free booth, 100 full-access passes, and a panel spot worth €33,000, where they sold dozens of watches and introduced Nouns to a curious new crowd.

With the first edition sold out, the team is thinking ahead:

  • New colorways and strap designs are on the table?
  • An exclusive automatic version may be next?
