Nouns Camp: Where Governance Meets Community

Nouns funded governance powerhouse simplifying onchain decision making and DAO coordination.

The Details

Nouns.camp is more than just a governance client. It’s a living, breathing part of the Nouns ecosystem. Created to improve how Nouns collaborates, proposes, and votes, Camp has become the go-to platform for Nouns governance. From onchain proposals to discussion topics, Camp blends transparency, usability, and community in one space.

While proposals have historically lived on nouns.wtf, Proposal 463 funded the continued development of Nouns.camp to expand Nouns governance client suite. It now plays a central role in how the DAO sees, discusses, and interacts with proposals.

It’s fast, intuitive, and designed for Nouns governance. Users can do everything from proposing and refining ideas to casting onchain votes or providing feedback, all in one place.

Camp was created out of a need for a better way to govern Nouns while other frontends became outdated or unkept. Created and maintained by Obvious, Inc., a Y Combinator-backed team led by krel, long time Nouner.

Today, the majority of votes are cast through Camp, a clear sign of community trust and adoption.

Explore Nouns Through Nouns Camp

Camp’s “Digest” gives you a view into everything happening with Nouns onchain. Upon visiting you’ll be greeted with an RSS style feed of Nouns onchain activity. From recently cast votes, Nouns sold or transferred, or new proposals this is the best view for recent Nouns activity. Easily filter by actions you’d like to see when loading Camp and grab your popcorn!

Camp is home to a number of features, and gives Nouns an all-around client to drive participants to. Some notable features are:

Proposals

Camp makes it easy for users to propose ideas to Nouns and view and give feedback on ideas being proposed. The platform does a great job of sorting proposals by type, giving busy voters the ability to quickly find the most imperative information, versus ideas that are not fully onchain yet.

Each proposal comes with a ton of information — From transaction details to treasury estimates voters receive additional information to help them make their decision. A proposal’s Activity threads makes it easy to keep up with or catch up on conversation around each prop including pre-proposal signals, votes and ‘votes with reason.’

The proposal flow is simple for anyone who has enough Nouns to propose immediately to Nouns, or someone who has a few or even no votes. Anyone can submit a Candidate proposal to Nouns.

Topics

Topics are a Reddit-style discussion layer where voters and builders can share ideas or ask questions. Under each post users can comment to weigh in on the topic. Topics range from one’s vision for Nouns, to possible ideas that might become candidate or fully onchain proposals later on. Anyone can create a topic. Have a good idea? Dive in and create a topic today.

Additional Stats

Voters: Easily dig into voters on Camp and explore voting style and track record. View a voter’s participation rate, and how they’ve voted on each proposal. You can see what proposals different voters are tied to, from either sponsoring or proposing themselves.

Treasury: Camp also gives users a view into the Nouns treasury, run rate, and more. Viewers can filter by different timeframes to see exactly what Nouns have been brought in, and deployed. Just one small feature that makes camp a strong frontend for playing Nouns on a daily basis.

Other Notable Features

Auction: Bid on Nouns directly at Nouns.camp in their streamlined auction view.

Farcaster: Camp integrates with farcaster to allow replies and ‘likes’ on comments or votes.

Open Source: Camp is open Source and free to others to build on top of, enabling forks like LilNouns.camp.

Camp’s feature list is always changing. For an updated look at what Camp has to offer, visit Camps GitHub for the most recent version of the code, or the follow the Camp feed on Farcaster for recent updates.
