Nouns Builds a School in Uganda
Nouns helps build a brighter future by building a new primary school in the Mitooma District of Uganda.
It Started with a Big Idea
Davin Oyesigye is a community leader and builder from Uganda. He proposed an ambitious plan: fund the construction of four brand-new classroom blocks, a new Administration block, Kitchen and Dinning Hall for Ndurumo Primary School, giving hundreds of kids a safe and inspiring place to learn.
Until now, many of these students were studying in overcrowded, crumbling spaces:

The Nouns community backed Davin’s vision through Proposal 477. And then again through Proposal 646, following up with funding for essential furnishings and operations to bring the school fully to life.
The School is located in the western arm of the Rift valley near Queen Elizabeth National Park.
The Primary School is a Church Founded – Government Aided School with classes from Kindergarten to Primary Seven (p.7). The school admits children between ages of 4 to 12 years old and is a fully licensed primary leaving and examinations center by the Ministry of Education & Sports (MoES), in Uganda.

From the groundbreaking events to construction updates and finally the grand opening, Davin has shared the full journey in detail with the Nouns community.

A New School, Powered by Nouns
Fast-forward to 2025, and the results are in. The new school is complete, and students have already moved in. You can see the colorful buildings standing tall with bright red Noggles against the lush hills of Mitooma. It’s not just a school—it’s a symbol of what’s possible when global communities work together to fund public goods.

A large ceremony and “Grand Handover” of the school took place on January 31st, 2025. It was a day to celebrate the completion of the school, and a way for the community to recognize the success.

There were many notable guests and government staff in attendance, including Uganda’s Deputy Speaker of Parliament member Thomas Tayebwa who gave a speech about the importance of education in the area, and what a school like this means for the community.

National media outlets got in on the coverage too. The Daily Monitor, one of Uganda’s leading newspapers, featured the story, while NBS Television ran a segment about the school and how the project was made possible.
